I'm pleased to finally announce an Ican Ican't gig in Dublin!
On May 12th we'll be playing The Stags Head Raw in the top room of The Stags Head pub in Dublin's city centre. Doors open at 8pm and we should be done by 10:45pm so don't worry as you'll be able to make the last bus! Admission is only €8.00 / €6.00 (students).
Here's the three tunes we played on last Wednesday's Paul McLoone Show on Today FM, but this time on Soundcloud and all one after the other - so no need for scrubbin or skippin!
Last week Ican Ican't did a wee live session for Paul McLoone at Today FM and it was broadcast last night. We did three tracks - Shortcut Thru The Park, Little Wings and I Don't Care What You Think Of Me.
Yeh yeh it's just a different number on the year of the date etc etc - that's my inner cynic speaking...
Anyhoo, I have a couple of 'bits' to share with y'all today. First up we got our first 'The Year Of The Stat' review and it's from Power Popaholic (.com) and you can check it out over HERE. Secondly we have our own wee January sale of sorts on our Bandcamp page at the moment. The aforementioned 'The Year Of The Stat' is available to download for HALF PRICE until the end of next week. For that just click HERE.
Sure where would ya get it?!
Meanwhile I'm working on new material for album number 3 which will probably see the light of day in 2014. Needless to say I'll keep you posted..
Hope everything is good for you, wherever you are.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the debut Ican Ican't album yesterday, all this week you can download the album for FREE exclusively in our music store! Just follow this little linky and get downloading!
I'm playing this Saturday night at this event in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. I'll be playing mostly Ican Ican't numbers but will hopefully be joined by some special guests for a few of the oldies!
The Year Of The Stat is finally ready to see the light of day as a proper release. Next week! I'll have more details soon enough. In fact I'll probably be blogging like a mofo over the next week or two so stay tuned for more details.
Here's a new audio mix (with the old video) of Comfort Food...
Sorry I been out of touch of late.. there's been a lot of football on! Unfortunately my 3 Nil-Nils tune didn't inspire the Irish team.. to be honest I still don't think I'd have wanted three nil-nils anyway!
Anyhoo, just wanted to post a link to a very nice review of the Ican Ican't album from Steven Spoerl at Playground Misnomer in the American Midwest...
The "Sing Up For The Boys In Green" compilation from Indiecater Records - featuring "3 Nil-Nils" by Ican Ican't - is now officially available for purchase/download on iTunes, Amazon and many more online music stores.
The rather wonderful Irish indie record label Indiecater Records has put together a compilation of brand new songs by Irish indie bands all centred around the theme of the Irish football team in anticipation of our participation at this year's Euros.. It's called Sing Up For The Boys In Green.
Luckily for you guys the Ican Ican't song "3 Nil-Nils" has been chosen as the free download!
You can also buy the entire album for just €5.. that's another 10 tracks from more great Irish bands all about Irish football themes such as the Saipan saga and Kevin Kilbane and more! Just follow this link...
My good friend Andrew (formerly bassist with Alanalda) has a brand new website and album out as of NOW! He plays under the moniker The Evening Watch and funnily enough his website is at www.theeveningwatch.com. His new album is called Theatre Of War and is well worth checking out.. in particular the track Hunter's Moon (on which I guest on vocals and guitar) which you can check out below..
I'll have more news soon on another release (either an album or mini-album/EP) of Ican Ican't material...
If you've ever had to live in a small little bedsit (and had to put up with all the inconveniences that it brings) just to make ends meet then you'll relate to the song... if not you can just laugh at the fact that I had to!
I can't believe I didn't even post last month! I really should synch this mofo up with the Facebook page because I did post a few bits there during January.
Anyhoo, to bring ye up to date I'm currently working on gettin the old Dermostat - Year Of The Stat album remixed and remastered to the best of my ability. There's a lot to clean up and re-arrange and it really wasn't recorded very well but I'll see what I can do with it. I reckon there's some good tunes on it that are well worth sprucing up to see the light of day properly.
I'm also slowly putting together other, newer tunes gettin them ready to record for a proper follow-up to Ican Ican't. I have a few themes I'm working on. It would be nice to group similarly-themed songs together into proper collections.
On the live front there is no concrete news as yet. There might be some shows with The Evening Watch who I'll be playing guitar with anyway but I'll obviously keep you posted on that when I know for sure.
Apart from that I'm just keepin on keepin on.. I unearthed the original I Don't Care What You Think Of Me video storyboards recently. Interesting to look at what the original ideas were. We didn't stray too far from them in the finished video.. See what you think...

Aside from that work on the Ican Ican't album is all but finished. I'm hoping for a late October / early November release along wth a new video..
I've also started work on a new writing project (by which I mean concept album) which will hopefully see the light of day in early 2012.. I don't want to give anything away as yet but I'll keep you posted..
Anyhoo, thanks for reading and thanks for listening...
Peace,
D
PS Any feedback you have about the website and/or music etc is always most appreciated. Thank you.
Sorry I've been neglecting the old blog (already!) for while.. Trying to get things together for the album.. Will have a release date soon. Meanwhile as it's the 1st of September I thought it opportune to post this tune - for the students and teachers who are returning / have returned to school this month...
Just posted some old Alanalda demos and also some Babysleg (pre Alanalda) demos into the Odds N Ends section of the Music page... go check it out to see where it all started... a bit like old baby photos to be honest - embarrassing in parts but I can't deny that it happened!
Have just begun a bit of a mini wedding marathon - 4 weddings in the space of 4 weeks. Have only been to one so far and am already cream-crackered! Maybe I'll get into the flow of things by the third one and be able for any amount of alcoholic punishment but for now I'm still tired (2 days later!) and ache a bit..
Anyhoo, here's a wedding related musical ditty from the Alanalda days - enjoy!
Well I suppose I could just welcome you to the first one-stop website for all my musical musings - from Alanalda thru Dermostat to my latest venture Ican Ican't. Please have a look around the whole site and tell me what you think... There's music, videos, photos, a short potted history and more (well not too much more!). There's a mailing list on the right hand side of the site if you want to be kept up to date - you'll get a free MP3 of your choice for your troubles! Alternatively you can just visit the Facebook page and hit the 'Like' button. There's links to all of our external pages (Myspace, Facebook and Soundcloud) in the menu at the top of the page..
In the store at the moment the Alanalda 'Demonstration' EP is available for download. It will soon be followed by a newly remastered Dermostat 'The Year Of The Stat' album which was originally available on CDR in 2009.
Before that though will be the release of the debut album by Ican ican't (it's me again actually)..
In anticipation of that here's the brand new Ican Ican't video "I Don't Care What You Think Of Me"... enjoy!
